Wednesday

Early this morning the dogs on our block started barking at noises, as they always do. I let them know I was home and we talked for a while. I was feeling better, especially after the people gave me chicken and rice for breakfast.

Margo and Ted came by. That was fun, because usually we go to their house but this time they came to see me. Chuck stayed home with me and gave me a bath. Other people came to visit, people I usually only see when I go to work with Chuck. Dan came, then my groomers, Laurie and Pete, came and brushed me and trimmed the hair from my eyes. Today was supposed to be my Day of Beauty but Jo Ann told them I couldn't go.

Later on William came, then Aunt Shelley came. William and Shelley brought treats!

I feel better now, but every once in a while I wonder about my belly. I hope they keep giving me this tasty food!

Tuesday

I spent last night in a smelly cage (OK, it was my own fault) with IV needles stuck in my back leg. This afternoon Jo Ann and Chuck FINALLY came back, but I felt so bad I couldn't even look at them. They talked to another doctor for a long time and everybody cried a lot.

Then we all got into the car. They drove me to my favorite squirrel-chasing place but I wasn't up to it. When we got home I drank and drank and drank from my water bowl but my belly still felt funny. There were treats in my food bowl but I didn't care. I went outside and stood on the step in the pool and drank and drank and drank the pool water. I still felt funny, so I tried to find a nice cool spot to lie down. I tried the patio. I tried a damp, shady spot under a bush. I tried the deck under the solar collector. Finally it got dark and it was cool everywhere.

Jo Ann brought me some corned beef, and THAT was good! After a while they gave me some more of that and then a bowl of juicy canned chicken. Mmmm. Chuck and I slept downstairs.

Monday

Well, this hasn't been such a good week. On Saturday I started feeling funny so I went to a safe spot, between Chuck's feet under his desk. By Sunday night my belly felt wrong so I sat by Jo Ann and asked her to help, but she didn't know what I meant. This morning I didn't want to get up at all. I finally went downstairs, but after a while I couldn't get up.

The next thing I knew I was at the vet and Dr. Lagerwerff listened to my heart, shaved my legs, put IV needles in them, and put me on the X-ray machine. Then Chuck and Jo Ann drove me off to another hospital where they shaved my belly and rubbed it all over with an ultrasound probe. Now Dr. McLain says that there are "masses", whatever those are, next to my left kidney and inside my liver. They shaved another leg and stuck in more IV needles, and finally let me sleep.
